I still can’t believe that for the next 6 months I get to design for SpiegelMom Scraps! I hope that I can highlight her products – some exclusive and some carefully chosen – in a way that shows how much the SpiegelMom Scraps community loves creating. For this blog hop you’ll visit each designer’s page. You should have just come from Christy’s blog. Be sure you start at the beginning and comment on every post for a chance to win $10 to the SpiegelMom Scraps shop! Don’t wait, monthly hop contests are only open for 3 days! Oh, and don’t forget to grab your exclusive cut file!
I wanted to create a summery layout for this blog hop. Since I’m anxiously wishing summer away, I figured I would cherish it at least on paper. I start aching for fall around early July and then mostly hide inside until mid-September. But this floral Be Always Blooming layout was inspired by one of my best friends’ weddings back in June. The picture is of my bridesmaid bouquet.
I started by painting thick black horizontal stripes on a white cardstock background; I knew the bright and busy layout would need an anchor. I then added a vertical line of Sea U in the Mornin‘ dazzlers – which is a perfect minty-seafoam color. I backed the photo with a long strip of watercolor patterned paper from Hip Kit Club and a large square cut from a glassine bag (love that stuff – it gives the effect of thick vellum). I tucked in a few embellishments around my photo, including some rubber shapes by Amy Tangerine, a cut file painted with Shimmerz Coloringz in Mandarin Mai Tai, and of course lots of exclusive sequins (Pinky Pie Pinks mix).
To make sure my photo didn’t fall off 😉 I attached a mini clothespin painted bright pink.
I finished off my layout with random alphas, “always” cut with my Silhouette, and those beautiful thickers from the American Crafts Shimelle Starshine collection (which I hear was a recent SpiegelMom Scraps giveaway!)
