Good morning from my corner of the world!
I’m SO excited to be participating in my first blog hop with “In the Scrap” ! This is going to be a fun one because our “challenge” was to create based on a favorite technique – so every post will be super unique.
I love subtle mixed media backgrounds + a little shine. I think it looks so clean and pretty against white cardstock. So my technique on this project is “stitched sequins on a watercolor background”
I’m not a fancy watercolor artist.. I picked up a cheap pan from a craft store we have here in the US. I don’t do much else with these paints so it’s more than enough for me. I added a little water and using large horizontal strokes I painted on some light pink streaks. Once this dried, I dripped some Shimmerz Vibez Egg Noggin’ from top to bottom on one side for some added shine.
I chose a color palette of sequins from my collection that coordinated well with the papers I picked from my stash – Pink Paislee Fancy Free, Crate Paper Chasing Dreams by Maggie Holmes + Bloom. The sequins are mixed by SpiegelMom Scraps.
I layered my papers behind this pretty floral photo (you’ll see SO many floral photos from me) and once I knew where my sequins would go, I stitched them down. I love how finished yet whimsical stitched sequins look!
To finish off my page, I added a few wood veneers from my stash, Felicity Jane embellishments, and that tiny gold word from Crate Paper.
I loooove how this layout turned out! Thanks for checking out my post. Next you’ll be headed to Christina’s blog! Be sure to comment on every designer’s post for a chance to win prizes!
